A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER experienced severe turbulence over the Indian Ocean, causing the flight to descend 6,000 feet in a span of three minutes. The incident occurred over Myanmar, according to aviation tracking site FlightRadar24.
The plane, operating flight SQ321, was diverted to Bangkok and landed safely at 3:45 pm. Singapore Airlines confirmed the incident in a statement, stating that the flight encountered "severe turbulence" during its flight from Mumbai to Singapore.
Passenger accounts and images from the flight show the extent of the turbulence, with loose items flying around the cabin and passengers being thrown from their seats.
